The Book of Matthew sets the entire Gospel of Matthew to hip-hop — 28 chapters, 28 songs, every lyric drawn straight from the text. A way to get young people into the actual words of Matthew, not around them.
Open the room with it. Press play on a chapter’s song as students arrive or as a transition. A two-to-three-minute track lands Matthew’s words in a language they already speak — then you teach into it.
Chapter 1 alone — God put the scandalous names into Jesus’ family tree on purpose; your past doesn’t disqualify you — is a whole night of discussion about grace.
28 chapters = 28 weeks. Preach through Matthew and pair each week with its chapter’s song: play the track, read the text, teach into it. Simple, repeatable, and the series structure is already built for you.
Run it as a group challenge. One chapter and one song a day — assign it as a small-group track or a personal devotional for your students. It does the daily reminding for you.
Let it travel: students can save the songs, share them, and keep listening all week — the discipleship continues after everyone goes home.
Playing these songs in a live worship service or church gathering is covered. Under U.S. copyright law’s Religious Service Exemption, performing music as part of a religious service at your place of worship doesn’t require a separate performance license.
